    "if no follow-up", means the problem has no scalability requirement. then there is no point in over-engineering. the point interviewer should check is can the candidate adapt to the changing requirements. the ideal candidate should ask these questions before writing anything.

    I do not think you have a good idea of the real picture. you said your school was a "Jaathika Pasala", and that means more prosperous one which has certain influence and resources. those are the minority. majority of the schools does not have this and most of the teachers do not do tutions there...
