    I think this is nothing to do with the speed. It's just the availability of channels and interference. I just did speed tests using these different bands using my connection (50Mbps) and pinged the same server. with 2.4G with 5GHz I got the opposite.

    To apply for work visa someone needs to be sponsored by an Australian company or institution for full-time paid position and from the applicant's side the relevant skills and qualification. In my understanding, for PHD they offer student visa as you are sponsored by a particular University.

    It all depends on the assessor of the application in immi. For my work visa, my mother-in-law got 3 years multi-entry visit visa a couple of years ago (still valid). But the maximum stay at a time is one year after which needs to go out of the country and revisit.
