    1. With XP nothing is secure. 2. You can assign a group policy or use simple file sharing. Turn it on from folder options and then in folder properties window click the permissions button. Play with it !

    What I do is I use my external PC power adapter with the SATA cable attached to the 2nd hard drive slot in my laptop. Or if you are so desperate, get a USB to SATA/IDE/miniIDE adapter.

    Well SATA standard is plug and play. If you need to use something external, basically get a power line + a long SATA cable out of the PC. It will work as a USB drive, just a bit hard to connect ;)
