Install Vista on a USB stick in three minutes

There's Bart PE. FOSS Windows XP Live CD maker. It can be used to create Windows XP Live environment for a USB stick too. Only problem is that no many PCs can be booted from a USB stick. I'm sure Vista can be turned in to a Live CD or DVD as well. It'll not have the loads of eye candy that...

Well no need to buy a separate PC then. Just install VMware and create a virtual server. Or simply install the server software on your existing linux distro. Almost any linux distro can be used as a server.

ah! so its an application for gnome.. One problem with Ubuntu is that you cannot easilyupgrade it's oses without breaking the system. That is to say if you run Edgy, Upgrading to Feisty by downloading the new kernel wont work. This was disscussed in the Debian user list reasently (Debian being...

Well, you gotta love its stability. Great distro for servers. I run all my servers on Debian. XFCE...You learn to like it over time. Actually the main reason for XFCE was that KDE was just too big to DL (300+ mb). XFCE with most of the addons waas only 10 mb. Since I did complete net install...

Ubuntu is using Gnome GUI so this 3D thing is likely to be either a package for Gnome or an updated version of gnome. So updating your Gnome and/or installing the 3D package will give you the 3D desktop. No need to download the whole whole cd.

Gentoo is not for the faint of heat! Suggest you try this if you have 2 PCs (or virtual PCs) connected to the internet. You'll be spending quite a bit of time surfing and trouble shooting plus the time it takes to download source packages and compile them.

Recommend you give PCLinuxOS a try. Has a good hardware detection system and drivers for new video cards. Just download the version for your Video card and give it a spin. Its a LiveCD so you can run it and see if everything is working before actually installing it.

What a Relief Cuz Of UBUNTU!!!

you cannot check performance from LiveCDs. You can only check features, apps available and stuff like that. Main reason is since its runing off the CD, it's going to take time to uncompress the apps in to memory and run it. However if you do want to try Linux out, PCLinuxOS, Mandriva , Mepis...
