    My other hitachi 250G HDD works fine and It's SATA too so it may not be a Mobo driver issue isn't it? Drive is perfectly detects and all files are listed under windows problem occurs when you try to write or read something from the disc. And also I have updated MoBo drivers from their update...

    I tried disc on external drive connector and connected via USB and still same problem occurd. Anyway did not removed or formatted the disc yet. Seems now it has come to that point. Any tools to check if it's a hardware faliure (in this case I have to through the drive away even it has 5 year...

    it's used for backup purpose, so I have around 200G of data on it I have no place to transfer, so I kept low level format as the last line of defense. And I did not used it as bootup drive and It does not have OS installed.
