Yes It was a Japanese Government direct grant funding to SL during JRJ rule. I don't think there was a JICA involvement at all then. Of course the Japanese sold TVs in SriLanka. State Trading Corporation itself sold a brand named "General" which was in fact, a quite good product.

This is True. The "General" TV brand was a very good back then. By the way, it was in PAL, same system used in Europe
