Economynext reports that 9 million rupees was wasted to welcome Sirisena at the airport replete with traditional drummers and fawning after his trip to the United Nations. That is around 62 500 US dollars! Yes that's right, 62 500 dollars was spent for Sirisena to get off a plane and waddle into an airport. And all he did was return from a United Nations meeting after selling out Sri Lanka's armed forces and political leadership that defeated the LTTE. So much for not wasting money. Who are the morons who voted for this?
And to top it all off, cutouts of Sirisena's mug now adorn roundabouts and Colombo streets claiming a victory for Sri Lanka after passage of the USA resolution. With fools like this in charge of the country, who needs enemies?
