Legally maybe but you can't force patriotism just like that. Remember we are never United truly. Even the Sri Lankan flag has not shown the minorities in equal terms. Although we try to cover it up. That's the truth. Let's say rational thinking majority wants a nice flag which represents everyone and may be less complicated than it is now. Would you think the majority Buddhist would like that? No, they still want the superiority complex so you can't blame the minorities for feeling that. Remember Sri Lanka was not United when the independence was gained in 1948. We were not living as on...we were forced to live as one Community. even Cricket was divided because of the so-called ego of the majority Buddhist. They played for sinhalese sports club SSC. The minorities were not taken seriously even though they were talented. So they each form their own community clubs. That's how the Tamil started playing for Tamil union and the Moors started playing for moors Sports club. The burgers form their own club called the BRC which is well known as the burger recreational club.අපි ජාතියක් හැටියට තවම සුළු ජාතීන් අතරින් සංහිඳියාව වර්ධනය කරළ නෑ. දැන් චුට්ටක් හොඳයි හැබැයි පහුගිය කාලේ නම් අන්තිමයි. Look at the drama that's going on now. Everyone says that they are trying to save the Buddhist and they are calling that අපි හෙළ යක්කු. I would say minorities also have a role to play in showing the patriotism and now the present generation has changed a lot which is a good thing. But the majority also has to take the blame because they can make a change. They are over 75% so they can make a change a lot if they want to. Finally, how many Cricket grounds have we got in the eastern province and the Northern province after almost 75 years of independence. How many tamils and Muslims have represented the country? Only a few have represented the country as tamils. Clearly there is favorism so you can't expect the minorities to have any loyalty towards our country mate. That's the truth. If you say that all these happen because of April 2019 East attack not really bro... the racism was there for Muslims Even before that .the racism was there for tamils even before LTTE. Remember in the 1970s sinhalese people went to Tamil hotels and ate but did not pay the bill. If you ask for money they will beat you up. And the tamils could not go and complain to the police because the police were all sinhalese so can you imagine the frustration?. I'm just trying to call a spade a spade that's all.
Recently there was a war between Iran and Israel. Do you know what the sinhalese Majority was saying even after Iran has helped so much to Sri Lanka in many aspects. ඉරානයට කෙලවිලාම යන්න ඕනේ..... So someone can argue why are the sinhalese people like that. After all Iran did not do anything to Sri Lanka. But still Sri Lankans hate Iran why?
One of the reasons of the communal riots was that although the Tamils were minority, they were holding all the senior positions in the country because they were hard-working and educated. This led to a lot of frustration among the sinhalese crowd. The same sentiments were repeated when Muslims were doing well in business. It's all hatred..let us hope that it's gone for good
