One of the places I never wanted to visit. (Once I travelled to Madras and stayed for a few days for another work related matter, that was about 25 years ago) Why visit hell while alive? is my favourite excuse. My mother wanted to do a tour in the Buddhist places of interest and I arranged her to travel with one of my friend's family. This friend has business contacts in India and his business partners arranged a luxury tour for his family. They were very well looked after and returned without any sickness or mishaps. My wife wants to travel to Jammu-Kashmir-Manali areas. I had a look at these Rajdhani trains to J-K. These take a fair bit of time to reach the destination and I decided to save time by flying. Because of the terrain difficulties the trains cannot speed up. Also from the end point station to SriNagar takes a few hours more. So a few months ago I booked CMB-DEL-SXR (SriNagar) return. Since we have never been to TajMahal thought of breaking journey for two nights in Delhi to visit Agra. The return ticket fare (Air India) was about Rs 180,000 per pax. The cost is a bit higher because of the Delhi stopover. (Also the airfares have risen anyway) There are a few places that deserve a visit in Delhi. Someone suggested a visit to Ranthambore but we have seen enough wildlife across the world and dropped the idea. She will organise the rest of the tour in the J-K areas including the hotel stays through a friend of her living in India. Thanks for your post... Good Luck!
