He got killed by the same terror group he nurtured against SL . Later it became a threat even to Indian territory by having Air power through light aircraft as these were not detectable by Radar due to low altitude and in any event had serious encounters with passenger air planes of Air India.  So Rajiv also miscalculated the terror group who got funding fro Libya and South Africa and technical support from Afghanistan terror groups. So he lost control of it though TN govt provided ground combat training for a long time.Though we should not follow India , we have to deal with them very carefully not to hurt them too much! This is not a matter for diplomats alone as we lack professional diplomats in our foreign service who had got international recognition. Such as Shirly Amareasinghe , Nevill Kanakarathna, etc.We may go the same round again. Present FM does not know whether he is standing or sitting , but president  and PM of India have good relationship and it is good for both countries. India does not want SL destabilise but at the same time not too strong regionally to become a threat to its hegemony.</blockquote>
