    ඌ ඒ ගාන හොයන්නෙ Australia වලින් නෙවෙයි නං මොකටද tax ගෙවන්නෙ?

    This comment is wrong.

He is an "Australian resident" for "taxation purposes".

Regardless of where the money come from, if you live in Australia, all the earnings come to Australia is Taxable (of course tax free threshold applies).

If you earn overseas, and pay tax in that country, you still have to pay tax in Australia. Best example was Paul Hogan (crocodile dundee) tax evasion saga.

see my other comments later, what I meant was all PR and citizens are "tax residents" and most of their income is not "tax exempt", however EVERY international student is NOT a "tax resident". :)
read the ATO website. I asked @LANKAT to do the same but he doesn't want to do so and keep commenting bullshit.

I think he(the OP) can include himself in an exempt category. ;) If I was an international student then I'd find a way to do so within legal limits, because even if I pay taxes as an "international student" he will not get much back in return. That's not fair to me. And whatever income he referred to is not generated from Australia(I guess so). For these reasons, why he should pay income taxes?

He can do whatever he wants, but I showed him possible pathways.

And this comment is wrong. No need to pay double taxes. :)
If I'm wrong show me that.

I read that. I don't know what's that case, and I can't talk about that without knowing it. There's no way to me to get everything regarding that case. I just googled it and what I get was "there was a settlement between the ATO and that person". If you know the details, tell us. However, as the articles say he was "accused of" doing "tax evasion" but he was not made a convict, also the charge was "tax evasion".

I'm not suggesting to anyone to do "tax evasion". Tax evasion is a crime. I'm suggesting that they can get tax benefits and tax exemptions that are not crimes.

I'd be thankful to you If you can show me where the ATO tells that an "international student" should pay income taxes in several countries for the same income. Can you?

Paul Hogan claimed he paid taxes in USA. It's true. He paid them in USA. But the tax rates he paid was lot lower than AU. So, ATO wants him to pay taxes according to Australian tax rates. He try his best not to pay double taxes, but at the end, he has to give in and pay.
Since this was well publicised high profile case, ATO and Paul Hogan's lawyers come in to an agreement for privacy. No details being revealed because it will tarnish his name as a tax evader. But ATO got all his dues.

For your last question, No, I can't show you that. There are no special treatment for International Students. They have to follow the normal law as other "residents for taxation purposes".

If they receiving any foreign earnings, they may eligible for exempt foreign employment income or foreign income tax offset. Otherwise everything over TFT will be taxed.
