In the attic...
what about wind farm technology? far cheaper, safer and efficient.... Iran: LOL I think you are getting disillusion about your definition of "bargaining chip". We don't need to breed people behind big walls and machine guns beating up anti govt. sentiments.... LOL... oh hang on but that's SL.... LOL

Now I understand why you think being like Iran is cool.

good point...but those take longer to build up...and takes a lot to maintain....

solar power is more viable....but we do not have the tech or space to set it up....:dull:

the main reason we need nuclear power is to flex a lil muscle....show the outside community we mean business....India was not recognized by the world until it went nuclear....same as paki....

thou the chances for a nuclear disaster is higher too....:oo:

ur right gota.....if the LTTE got frisky with it....we would have hell to pay....

Looking at your teachers, I can definitely tell that you are an epic fail!

Some times on a global scale you don't need to "flex muscles" or shout as loud as you can to make your point. Eco friendly-low risk- sustainable energy is the way forward. In a country such as SL where almost everyone cuts corners in safety, nuke power is a recipe for disaster. Further we need to think about getting more people out of the poverty line before thinking about going nuke.

I think we are getting way ahead of our selves if we want to go nuke: purely from a safety and non-eco. perspective.

I just feel that it's practical to put safety first in an environment where there is practically no track record for safety. If SL has a strong enough and sustainable energy portfolio, maybe we can look at going Nuke. However the capital outlay must be justified and we can't risk a disaster. It's of a totally understanding nature as to why anyone would get excited about going Nuke. It's a big leap forward.... just right now a tad too big for us. Good things take time. In due time when we are strong enough SL can go nuke....for sure. But it has to happen properly

yeah the idea of nuking usa to dust is quite ...nice but come on we don't wna play north korea do we.

Not everyone that harness nuclear power gets labeled as NK, I mean that's insane... but yes it's not something that we should look at any sooner.. but I don't see any harm in it..

I don't think we should be a fully developed nation before going into something like that..we should at least be on our way to something better than this if we wanna pursue nuclear power..

There are some very good case studies/models around the world who haven't and won't touch going nuke because they have such good sustainable Eco-friendly energy portfolio's. There is absolutely no need to go nuke, instead use the natural sustainable modes. These will create far more employment in rural areas right across the country(wide) as opposed to isolated Nuke centers if that's the path we want to take. Going nuke is no walk in the park... it is literally rocket science which has to have a safety first policy.

Yeah I agree, we have a long way to go... its not something we can do overnight, and there are other concerns too when looking at the size of our country.. like where do we dispose the nuclear waste etc.

Talking about renewable energy, we have similar problems too... Wind Farms and stuff taking too much of space and also need extensive long term research on where to strategically place them, I suggest "bio-gas" methane related energy sources from farms and places all over the country its quite easily available and also these days there are technologies that you can get methane from land fills buried with waste etc.
