The Foreign service has been totally ruined by political appointees. Long gone are the days that we had outstanding Diplomats. Now only Diplomutts.

This is how our ambassadors (highcommissioners) work? That was the reason we still loosing our War against adverse media by LTTE and other interested groups. (there are some good things like bringing lack of rule of law in SL to limelight by these self interested groups). But we are still loosing the war against the west (US -shared intelligence of activities in high sea with SL, India also helped us to defeat LTTE lately under Dr. Manmohan Sing) but the very same parties are now seeking accountability issues?? Didnt they check us before supporting the war in positive manner?? This is all due to our inability to clamp down adverse , mostly false information by these non governmental groups. Even Sec of State of US said that our Army raped tamil women and committed genocide(without any evidence of such things in large numbers- not isolated cases which is difficult to prevent by any country including US, UK)
Our diplomats are not doing their duties due to various reasons(some are incompetent (career as well as political appointees).
This reminds the book With A Begging Bowl by late Dr. Sarathchandra (this was how our Foreign Service in 70s but this had not changed a bit)
