ඛනිජ තෙල් නිෂ්පාදන (විශේෂ විධිවිධාන) ( සංශෝධන) පනත් කෙටුම්පත වැඩි ඡන්ද 60 කින් පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී පස්වරුවේ සම්මත විය.
පනතට පක්ෂව ඡන්ද 77ක් ලැබුණු අතර ඊට විපක්ෂව ලැබුණේ ඡන්ද දාහතක් පමණි.
ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණේ මන්ත්රීුවරු සහ ඡන්දය විමසන අවස්ථාවේදී සභාගර්භයේ සිටි සමගි ජන බලවේගය පක්ෂයේ මන්ත්රීනවරු පිරිසක් පනතට විරුද්ධ මෙසේ ඡන්දය ප්රාකාශ කළහ.
පනත සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඡන්ද විමසීමක් අවශ්යක බව ජාතික ජන බලවේගය පක්ෂයේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීන විජිත හේරත් මහතා මුලසුනෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කළේය. ඡන්ද විමසීම පැවැත්වුණේ ඒ අනුවය.
පනත් කෙටුම්පත පිළිබඳ විවාදය ඊයේ දවස පුරා පැවැත්වුණු අතර ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂයේ සහ විපක්ෂයේ මන්ත්රීළවරු 20කට වැඩි පිරිසක් එහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූහ.
ඉන්ධන ආනයනය කිරීම තවත් සමාගම් වලට පැවරීම සහ ගුවන්යානා ඉන්ධන වෙනත් අයට ගෙනවිත් ගබඩා කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්ය පහසුකම් සැලසීම යනාදී කටයුතු සඳහා මෙම පනත් කෙටුම්පත මගින් ප්රසතිපාදන සැලසෙනු ඇත.

"The Shell sign, the Esso oval and the Caltex red star are no more, and henceforth the only sign for all motorists will be the Lanka ( Ceylon's ancient name) man with the torch.
This is the symbol of the Ceylon Oil Corporation.
The Petroleum Corporation took over the distribution of gasoline today. Gas stations throughout the island are busy removing signs of the private companies and replacing them with the Lanka sign. Most of the pumps of Shell, Esso and Caltex have been dry since distribution stopped about three days ago. But even as late as yesterday long queues of motorists formed at those filling stations still dispensing fuel oil imported by the Western companies. Many were turned away disappointed.
Private oil companies are retaining about 300 of the 1,300 clerical workers who will be displaced by the take‐over.
