Media persons do have rules and guidelines to follow which are based on ethics and necessary knowledge which they are expected to adhere to. If they fail they are open to laws of defamation. They can be sued and there have been many instances where cases have been won by aggrieved parties. There is a big, invisible operation that takes place before a reporter appears before the public, or before an article is published, even in Sri Lanka. The problem in Sri Lanka is that the majority are gullible, believing everything that they read and hear. Perhaps what you mean is reporters and politicians are articulate.</p></blockquote><p></p>
