• A touchdown has been scored on the moon by JAXA! Its SLIM lunar probe successfully landed on the Moon on January 20 after four months in space.
• SLIM carries new technology that automatically corrects its position and speed by comparing lunar-surface images with corresponding map data.
• This enables a "pinpoint landing" with a margin of error under 100m, the results of which are currently being verified.
• It also carries SORA-Q, built utilizing toy-industry technology and currently the world's smallest transformable lunar robot, from which promising exploratory accomplishments are expected.
