the whole point of having a democracy is to elect someone from amongst the commoners like you and me.. but seems we cannot overcome our slave mentality... A king has to have kings blood right? people who enter the stage with no political background are seen as jokes and are immediately made fun of, even if they have solid long term plans and ideas.. Once a son or a brother of some has been enters the stage and makes some baseless false promises which are completely unrealistic the sheep gene kicks into gear and everyone elses voice gets drowned out.. bloodline is not a requirement to be the leader.. It doesn't have to be a Premadasa or a Sirisena or a Rajapaksa.. It's not the middle ages anymore.. Don't vote for a person, vote for an idea.
