It is estimated that the US Dollar could increase up to Rs. 500 by the end of the year, former Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe has warned.

He made the observation while addressing an event that was held in Colombo on the pathway to rectifying the current economic crisis.
Gamini Wijesinghe said the current debt status of the country shows that the Government has failed in its duties.
He further emphasized the need for a new programme to rebuild the crisis-hit nation.
Gamini Wijesinghe added that it was essential for the Government to at least now realize that the country is bankrupt.
