Is he speculating like you and me or has given reasons from his knowledge about Auditing and other qualifications he possess?
To become popular such statements being made is not good for the country. From my knowledge Auditor Gen has no knowledge about Macro Econ indicators and exchange rate and how to determine that theoretically or practically , and this is not his cup of tea. (eg Dr. Padeniya and his knowledge about Soil Science , Chemical Fertilizer , causes of Kidney Failure , MCC, ECTA, where as his expertise lied in pediatric Neuro (a consultant and lecturer in that field and I have no issue in accepting his expert knowledge on his area of expertise but not any of above mentioned where he misled masses and rest is history) and Dr Godahewa giving opinion on environmental issues such as death of turtels..... there are too many examples to state here...
These are the things that resulted us being at this state of affairs.
is the Auditor Gen doing same.? Your guess is as good as mine. So do not spread this kind of things unless you can rely on his expertise for the opinion expressed. If not his opinion is no better than you and me!!
