Many different comments - but here's mine. There are some parents who love one child more than the other, even though they are all their own..:baffled: The cardinal rule of parenting is love them equally. The way I look at it is different - kids are not born with labels attached. (other than a genetic DNA label - which is invisible) If my friend's kids are around with our kids, we would treat them equally. We will not make any difference to them. In fact, many of our close friend's children who grew up with us as close family friends have grown up now. They always tell us that we are their second parents. That's how they feel and treat us. But I should add - The female of any species - does have an inborn maternal instinct and love than the male of the species. That possibly is evolutionary - as our member Pessimist already stated. I will mention a classic example. A long time ago, when my eldest was on a child walker, he fell and landed on his bum. He started off with a loud cry ahhhhhhh... There were two big male dogs just by the side of him. They didn't even lift their heads. But the four female dogs who were in the kitchen far away from him, ran nearly breaking the 100m record and started licking him. That's how the nature works.
