    Many countries have been known to drop off the tourist radar due to reasons such as conflict, war, and natural disasters. But after several years in the wilderness, a handful of them sneak back and tourists flock to them because they are looking for somewhere new and exciting to visit.

    For 26 years there was on and off civil war within the country of Sri Lanka. Bu it was all over in 2009 and the country has now become one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It is one of the top 5 biodiversity hotspots in the world, home to 91 species of mammals which includes elephants, sloth bear, leopards and 433 species of birds. There are mountains, forests and waterfalls in the Central Highlands, and it boasts 1600 km of palm fringed coastline.
