පුජ්ය අම්පිටියේ සුමනරතන හිමි
Ven Ampitiye Sumanarathana himi is the chief prelate of Sri Mangalaramaya in Madakalapuwa in Eastern Srilanka. He has moved into this area in 1991 when the war is in its peak. At that time Sri Mangalaramaya Temple was completely destroyed by LTTE and the Himi has voluntarily located himself at the temple and started renovating the temple to protect the Sinhala Buddhist heritage in the area. He had gone through great amount of difficulties by doing this in the hand of LTTE. Un-wavering courage and dedication was the only strength he had to succeed in his mission. Even the war is over Tamil chauvinism is in its best now and using every possible methods to grab all the land of Sinhala people living in the area. Despite the unsuccessful demand for Police Power and Land Rights, they are illegally acquiring the ancient lands of them and Ven Sumanarathana himi is fighting lone battle to safeguard the rights of our people, which have been neglected by Sri Lankan Government, Politicians and even the Ordinary People of Sri Lanka. පුජ්ය අම්පිටියේ සුමනරතන හිමි මඩකලපුව ප්රදේශයේ ඇති එකම බෞද්ධ සිද්ධස්ථානය වන ශ්රී මංගලාරාමයේ විහාරාධිපතිව වැඩ වාසය කරමින් ප්රදේශයේ සිංහල බෞද්ධ ජනතාවගේ අයිතිය වෙනුවෙන් දශක දෙකක කාලයක් පුරා නොනවතින සටනක යෙදීසිටින හිමිනමකි. 1991 වර්ෂයේ මෙම ප්රදේශයට මුලින්ම වැඩි අවදියේ මෙම විහාරස්ථානය ද්රවිඩ ත්රස්තවාදීන් විසින් ගිනිතබා විනාශකර තිබුනුඅතර එම ස්ථානය නැවත ගොඩනැගීම උදෙසා ජීවිත පරිත්යාගයෙන් කටයුතු කල අතර ද්රවිඩ ත්රස්තවාදීන් විසින් කිහිපවිටක් උන්වහන්සේව අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන විවිද වදහිංසා පැමුනුවද ඒ සියල්ලටම නිර්භයව මුහුණදුන් ආකාරය මෙතුමාතුල පවතින තිර අධිෂ්ටානයට සාදකයකි. යුද්ධය අවසන්වුවද එම ප්රදේශවල අයිතිය ද්රවිඩයන්ට පමණක් අයිතිකරගැනීමට ඔවුන්තුල ඇති උවමනාවේ වෙනසක්වී නොමැති අතර තම පාරම්පරික වාසභූමි වල වාසයකරන සිංහල ජනතාව පලවාහැරීමට ඔවුන් විසින් ගන්නාවූ උත්සාහය මෙතුමන්විසින් මෙම සාකච්චාවේදී මැනවින් විස්තරකරනු ලබයි. ද්රවිඩ අන්තවාදීන් විසින් ඉල්ලන්නාවූ ආකාරයට පොලිස් බලතල සහ ඉඩම් අයිතියඔවුන් ලබාගතහොත් ඇතිවියහැකි වාතාවරණය පිලිබදව අවබෝධකරගැනීමට මෙය කදිම නිදසනුකි.
