Think about that: This woman became the VP and now she will contest the presidential election. Could such a thing happen here in Sri Lanka? And when people ask what problems those minorities have, majority would say that minorities have everything while boosting about the equality and tolerance, but we minorities never had or never will have such a chance. But in the USA, India, and UK, you can even become the premier.
JR, Ranil, Kadiragamar, Fowzie and many other politicians who are not sinhala buddhists got sinhala buddhist's votes and won...
even Shiranthi Rajapaksha is not a buddhist...
and Harris doesn't have the support of majority pure blood Americans and she is going to lose big time

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I don't know what the lineage of JRJ was, but his grandfather was a Sri Lankan, and his father was too. That 5 generations of proven residency. So, generally, they are regarding Singhalese, and the religion may change with the generation, as some of the elites had. But still, Singhalese don't accept JR as their own.

Talking about Kadirgamar, who was a greatest politician and true Sri Lankan, he was never a candidate for state leadership. Once, President Chandrika attempted to make him the Prime Minister, but it was taken back as a result of the protests of her supporters and religious leaders. After that, Kadirgamar was assassinated. I still remember some news articles that openly mocked that great leader. Once, Prof. Nalin Silva openly harassed Kadirgamar by saying that he was trying to change Buddhist history because Kadirgamar planted a Bodhi tree at Anuradhapura.

JR was not a sinhala buddhist, but sinhala buddhists still made him the president... and Kadiragamar was shot dead by a Tamil, not a sinhala buddhist...
Majority sinhala buddhists are not as racist as the minorities are trying to depict...
All ethnic/religious groups do have a small percentage of extremists... that percentage is there wherever you go...
you shouldn't judge everybody from the actions of those fools
