The UNP Members of the Central Provincial Council have decided to send a proposal to the party Working Committee that it is not proper for party MPs to participate in television reality shows.
Sanjeeva Kaviratne, a Central Provincial Council Member from the Matale District said that the UNP central provincial council members wished to send the proposal to the party’s Working Committee.
He said the decision on whether to send the proposal to the working committee would be taken at a meeting of the group on November 10. Those who are members of the supreme decision making body in Sri Lanka, the Parliament, should refrain from participating in such programmes that would affect the honour and belittle the good name of the institution, he said. Mr. Kaviratne said that MPs should not be subjected to ridicule through such shows as it could tarnish the image of Parliament.
