First of all let me clarify that I'm one of the 69 lakshe.
I voted for Gota in 2019 as well as pohottuwa in 2020 because I felt like that was the best option at the time.

Gota was the ideal candidate at the time. He studied in one of the best Buddhist schools in the island. He was a decorated Army officer. He had studied an IT related post grad. He didn't dress like his brothers. He was not your usual politician.
කොටින්ම කියනව නම්, ගෝඨා ඇවිල්ල වෙනස්ම කෙනෙක්.
I'm glad he got elected into the office, because now that whole nation and world can see he is full of shit who basked in the glory of others.
He proved that you can have all the right qualifications, but can still screw things up.
He proved that being a leader meant you should have a good team surrounding you or otherwise you're fucked.
As a nation we're in a fuel crisis as of 2022 March. But trying to blame this on the Covid pandemic which started to affect the country back from 2020 March is not the sign of a true leader.
He can't not simply say he didn't start this hence it's not his fault. LTTE war also didn't start by him, but he takes the credit in finishing it. So why can't he do the same here as well ?
Shit will truly hit the fan once our beloved is no more with us. Until then politicians will abandon the sinking ship slowly. As someone who's born in 1993, in a way I'm glad that I get to experience all this in my life. A war, a global pandemic, and now a time where people don't give a shit about political parties or politicians.
As a nation I truly hope we will rise up again !
