කොළඹ හතේ අය දුෂ්කර පැතිවල සේවය කරනවා වගේ තමා. ණය වලින් හම්බ කරන අයට ජීවිතේ අනිත් කොටස තියෙන්නෙ වෙන රටවල් වල. ලංකාව බංකොලොත් වෙලා නන්නත්තාර උනත් ඒ මිනිස්සුන්ගෙ පවුල් වලට යන්න තැන් තියනවා.

යකෝ අවුරුදු 72ක් ම රට කාපු එක තමයි කරේ සේරම.. දැන් එකා දෙන්න අල්ලගෙන බැන්න කියල උබලගෙ වුන්ට සුදු හුණු ගාන්න බෑ.. අඩුම තරමේ කියාගෙන පලයන් උඹ කැම්පේන් කරපු ස' කොහොමද මෙකෙන් ගොඩ එන්න හිතන්නෙ කියලවත්

Isn't it even stupid to compare Sri Lanka with the US? I know this is stupid, but at least I think this will give a reasonable idea for our typical baiyas and toiyas about the debt trap we are facing right now, don't you think? You should look at Macro trends of a country and realize how it all fits together. Debt to GDP is a better indicator. As you can see, Debt to GDP has been on a down trend until 2015 and since then it has increased again. This is due to different economic policies (e.g. Yahapalana regime focused on a service based economy than a manufacturing/export economy. This did not work.)
With the new gov, the focus on manufacturing, agri and export is back. We need to monitor how it influences debt to GDP ratio in the next few years.
Debt/GDP ratio <70-80% is manageable. Lower this ratio higher the growth of the country, because country can re-invest more money in sectors which produces more GDP in subsequent years. So it's fine debt is increasing as long as we produce, manufacture and export more.
Bro, I'm not a pro, but agree with the Yahapalana thing.. but they were much focusing on getting direct investments from foreign countries rather than a export economy. I guess that's why they were failed.
I feel like even though this gov trying to increase exports, inside the country people doesn't have enough support from the economy to start manufacturing isn't it? So they also have to take loans from local banks for higher interest rates. And the government solution for all of this is modern monetary theory? Right? By increasing the money supply they are trying to control the dollar rate. If we continue like this, I guess in few years we gonna have to face some serious problems as a country.
Our national debt is now 27 times of Everest Mountain...
