Knowing a few muslims I have asked this a few times, what they tell me is what jeffncandace said that they are considered unclean, they dont eat pork because when the pig is killed not all the blood can be drained in the way muslims sacrifice, this is what ive been told not sure how much truth there is to it though.

you don't eat pigs because of the Mosaic law. Pigs are representative of traits that are weak.
They love you when you feed them, and stomp you when full. Their attitude is based in give me, not in peace, as a lamb....
The point of the Mosaic law on food and animals is that a man would not behave or take on the traits of the example they set.

If it were based of hygiene give em a bath....

When in Saudi at the open market, i saw the dirtiest conditions in their meat markets. Camels are not clean either. Nor were the goats..
