J L Morisons to build USD13.5mn drug manufacturing plant

Feb 17, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s J L Morison Son and Jones (Ceylon) has resolved to make an investment of 13.5 million US dollars in constructing a new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.

The company said in a stock exchange filing that this research and manufacturing facility will be located within the SLINTEC Nano Technology Park in Pitipana, Homagama.

“The proposed plant will significantly enhance the manufacturing capacity of the company while complying with global regulatory standards,” the company said.

“Commercial operations are expected to commence in 2019.”

The company operates in chemical and pharmaceuticals sector and manufacturers, importers and distributors of pharmaceuticals, toiletries, food products, agro chemicals and veterinary products.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe inaugurated preliminary work the Mawanella- Hemmathagama water supply scheme on invitation from SLMC Leader and Minister of City Planning and Water Supply Rauff Hakeem, today.

The water supply scheme funded by the Government of The Netherlands is envisaged to benefit 250,000 people from Hemmathagama, Mawanella and Rambukkana areas.

Fund allocation for this water supply scheme was reserved by Minister Hakeem in the year 2016.

A Learning Lab and Knowledge Hub for the public was declared open today by Minister of City Planning and Water Supply and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem at the Katugastota Water Supply Unit.

This knowledge hub for the public provides training and awareness raising on fixing and servicing water pumps, domestic water pump repairs, underground pipe leak detection, frugal water usage etc and is a part of the Kandy mega water supply scheme.

A water filtering laboratory was declared open today by Minister of City Planning and Water Supply and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem at the Katugastota Water Supply Unit, that falls under the Greater Kandy water supply scheme.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය මගින් නුවරඑළිය, මතුරට ප‍්‍රදේශයෙහි පවුල් 534 කට අධික ප‍්‍රමාණයකගේ පානීය ජල අවශ්‍යතාවයට විසදුම් සැපිරේ.
