- ගම්පහ දිස්ත්රික්කයේ කලුඔය ද්රෝණිය අනාගත නාගරික සංවර්ධන කටයුතු සඳහා ඉඩකඩක් පවතින ප්රමුඛතා ප්රදේශයක් ලෙස හඳුනාගෙන ඇති අතර, එම ද්රෝණිය සඳහා වැසිජල අපවහන සහ පරිසර වැඩිදියුණු කිරීමේ ව්යාපෘතියක් 2018 - 2022 වසර 05ක කාලය තුළ සැලසුම් කර ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා යෝජනා කර තිබේ. එම ව්යාපෘතිය විදේශාධාර යටතේ ප්රමුඛතා ව්යාපෘතියක් ලෙස ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම පිණිස මහානගර හා බස්නාහිර සංවර්ධන අමාත්ය පාඨලී චම්පික රණවක මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව සඳහා අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් ප්රතිපත්තිමය වශයෙන් අනුමැතිය ලබා දෙන ලදී.

ඩීසල් ජෙනරේටර් 50ක්, ට්රාන්ස්ෆෝමර් ඒකක 25ක් හා ඩීසල් ඉන්ධන ටැංකි 25ක් ප්රවාහනය කොට සවි කිරීම සඳහා වන ටෙන්ඩරය
- ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලය විසින් විදුලි ජනනය සිදු කරනු ලැබීමේදී ඇතැම් අවස්ථාවල උද්ගත වන ජනන ඌනතා හේතුවෙන් මුළු පද්ධතියම බිඳ වැටීමට ලක්වන හෙයින් සුළු ඌනතා අවස්ථා මඟහැරවීම සඳහා බහලුම්වල ඇසුරුම් කළ ඩීසල් ජෙනරේටර් යන්ත්ර 50ක් මිල දී ගැනීමට එම මණ්ඩලය විසින් තීරණය කරනු ලැබ ඇත. එසේම ඒ සඳහා අවශ්ය බහලුම්වල ඇසුරුම් කළ ට්රාන්ස්ෆෝමර් ඒකක 25ක් හා ඩීසල් ඉන්ධන ටැංකි 25ක් ද මිල දී ගැනීමට තීරණය කරනු ලැබ ඇත. ඒ අනුව, අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් පත් කරන ලද ස්ථාවර ප්රසම්පාදන කමිටුවේ නිර්දේශය පරිදි, ඉහත සඳහන් ටෙන්ඩරය M/s Sterling and Wilson Private Ltd., India වෙත ප්රදානය කිරීම සඳහා ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලය වෙත බලය ලබා දීම පිණිස විදුලිබල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්ය රංජිත් සියඹලාපිටිය මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.

කුණ්ඩසාල - හාරගම ජලසම්පාදන ක්රමය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම

- ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලය විසින් විදුලි ජනනය සිදු කරනු ලැබීමේදී ඇතැම් අවස්ථාවල උද්ගත වන ජනන ඌනතා හේතුවෙන් මුළු පද්ධතියම බිඳ වැටීමට ලක්වන හෙයින් සුළු ඌනතා අවස්ථා මඟහැරවීම සඳහා බහලුම්වල ඇසුරුම් කළ ඩීසල් ජෙනරේටර් යන්ත්ර 50ක් මිල දී ගැනීමට එම මණ්ඩලය විසින් තීරණය කරනු ලැබ ඇත. එසේම ඒ සඳහා අවශ්ය බහලුම්වල ඇසුරුම් කළ ට්රාන්ස්ෆෝමර් ඒකක 25ක් හා ඩීසල් ඉන්ධන ටැංකි 25ක් ද මිල දී ගැනීමට තීරණය කරනු ලැබ ඇත. ඒ අනුව, අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් පත් කරන ලද ස්ථාවර ප්රසම්පාදන කමිටුවේ නිර්දේශය පරිදි, ඉහත සඳහන් ටෙන්ඩරය M/s Sterling and Wilson Private Ltd., India වෙත ප්රදානය කිරීම සඳහා ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලය වෙත බලය ලබා දීම පිණිස විදුලිබල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්ය රංජිත් සියඹලාපිටිය මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.
යාපනය ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ හදිසි අනතුරු හා හදිසි වෛද්ය ප්රතිකාර ඒකකයේ දෙවන අදියර ඉදි කිරීම
- හදිසි අනතුරු හා වෛද්ය ප්රතිකාර ලබා දිය යුතු රෝගීන් සඳහා පවත්නා පහසුකම් ප්රමාණවත් නොවන බැවින් 2015 වර්ෂයේ අයවැය ඇස්තමේන්තු යටතේ ලබා දෙන ලද ප්රතිපාදන යොදාගනිමින් යාපනය ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ හදිසි අනතුරු හා හදිසි වෛද්ය ප්රතිකාර ඒකකයේ පළමුවන අදියරේ ඉදි කිරීම් කටයුතු ආරම්භ කර ඉංජිනේරුමය කාර්යයන් පිළිබඳ මධ්යම උපදේශක කාර්යාංශය විසින් මේ වන විට එම කටයුතු සිදු කෙරෙමින් පවතින අතර, එහි දෙවන අදියරේ ඉදි කිරීම් කටයුතු ද මේ සමඟම ආරම්භ කළ යුතුව ඇත.
ඒ අනුව, යාපනය ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ හදිසි අනතුරු හා හදිසි වෛද්ය ප්රතිකාර ඒකකයේ දෙවන අදියරෙහි ඉදි කිරීම් කටයුතු, 'සැලසුම් කර ඉදි කර දීමේ' (Design and Build) පදනම මත, රුපියල් මිලියන 1,359.35ක බදු සහිත මුදලකට, ඉංජිනේරුමය කාර්යයන් පිළිබඳ මධ්යම උපදේශක කාර්යාංශය (CECB) හා සෙන්ට්රල් ඉංජිනියරින් සර්විසස් ප්රයිවට් ලිමිටඩ් (CESL) යන ආයතන වෙත පැවරීම පිණිස සෞඛ්ය, පෝෂණ හා දේශීය වෛද්ය අමාත්ය (වෛද්ය) රාජිත සේනාරත්න මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.
'යාපනය දිස්ත්රික්කයේ මීසාලෙයි උතුර, තෙන්මාරච්චි' ප්රදේශයේ නව කාර්මික විද්යාලයක් ස්ථාපිත කිරීම
- යාපනය දිස්ත්රික්කයේ තරුණ තරුණියන්ට ගුණාත්මක තත්ත්වයේ වෘත්තීය පුහුණු අවස්ථා ලබා දීම සඳහා කාර්මික අධ්යාපන හා පුහුණු කිරීමේ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව යටතේ එම දිස්ත්රික්කයේ ක්රියාත්මක වන එකම ආයතනය යාපනය තාක්ෂණ විද්යාලය වේ. මෙහි පාඨමාලා සඳහා වර්ෂයකට අයදුම්පත් 8,000ක් පමණ ලැබෙන නමුත් තාක්ෂණ විද්යාලයේ පහසුකම් ප්රමාණවත් වන්නේ පුහුණුලාභීන් 1,500කට පමණි.
මෙම තත්ත්වය සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන මීසාලෙයි උතුර, තෙන්මාරච්චි, වලිකාමම් ප්රදේශයේ කාර්මික විද්යාලයක් ස්ථාපනය කිරීමට යෝජනා වී ඇති අතර ජාතික වෘත්තීය සුදුසුකම් (NVQ) 3 හා 4 මට්ටම්වල වෘත්තීය පුහුණු පාඨමාලා කිහිපයක් එමඟින් පැවැත්වීමට සැලසුම් කර තිබේ. ඒ අනුව, රුපියල් මිලියන 560ක ඇස්තමේන්තුගත පිරිවැයකින්, ඉදිරි දෙවසර තුළ එම කාර්මික විද්යාලය ඉදි කිරීම පිණිස නිපුණතා සංවර්ධන හා වෘත්තීය පුහුණු අමාත්ය චන්දිම වීරක්කොඩි මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.
කුණ්ඩසාල - හාරගම ජලසම්පාදන ක්රමය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම
- කුණ්ඩසාල - හාරගම ජලසම්පාදන ක්රමය විදේශීය අරමුදල් සහාය ඇතිව ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් දැනටමත් අනුමැතිය ලබා දෙනු ලැබ ඇත. එසේ වුවද, මෙම ව්යාපෘතිය ක්රියාත්මක වීම ප්රමාද වීම මත පාතහේවාහැට හා කුණ්ඩසාලේ යන ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසවලට අයත් ගම්මාන 14ක ජීවත් වන පවුල් 6,000ක පමණ පිරිසක් ආරක්ෂිත පානීය ජල පහසුකම් නොමැති වීම නිසා මුහුණ දී තිබෙන දුෂ්කරතා සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන සමෘද්ධි ප්රතිලාභී හා අඩු ආදායම්ලාභී පවුල් රැසක් ජීවත් වන අනුරගම, පුබුදුගම, මුදුණකඩේ ඇතුළු ගම්මාන 14ක ජනතාවගේ ජල අවශ්යතා සපුරා ලීම සඳහා, පොදු සංවර්ධන කටයුතු වෙනුවෙන් ගොඩ නඟා ඇති සමෘද්ධි සංවර්ධන අරමුදලේ මුදල් යොදවා ගනිමින්, කුණ්ඩසාල - හාරගම ජලසම්පාදන ක්රමය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම පිණිස සමාජ සවිබලගැන්වීම්, සුබසාධන හා කන්ද උඩරට උරුමය පිළිබඳ අමාත්ය එස්.බී.දිසානායක මැතිතුමා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කරන ලදී.

Installation of new radial gates of Rajanganaya reservoir
Installation of new radial gates in the Rajanganaya reservoir is now taking place. Rajanganaya is a large reservoir built across the Kala Oya. The main concrete dam which the huge steel radial gates are installed is 350 m long. The catchment area of the reservoir is 76,863.60 hectares with total storage capacity of 100.37 million cubic meters.
Since the reservoir receives water from a main river of the country, Kala Oya and with the large catchment area, almost every year the reservoir fills to its full capacity level. The spill way is a long concrete structure with 30 radial gates. These steel radial gates were installed in 1951 and have not undergone major renovation thereafter. As a result they were corroded and depleted posing serious risk and causing operational inefficiencies.
The radial gates were operated manually and at serious flood situations in the past the operators faced difficulties in opening them and discharge water to protect the dam.
Under the DSWRPP AF all 30 radial gates are replaced with automated operation system. Manufacturing and installation is done by two contractors, The Government Factory and Colombo Dockyard Ltd, 15 gates by each. DSWRPP AF invests Rs.196.93 million for radial gate replacement and automation of Rajanganaya and Kaudulla reservoirs.
Under the phase 1 of the DSWRPP the earthen dam and other structures were renovated and with the completion of this project all structural issues identified in the reservoir will be resolved improving safety and operational efficiency.

CPC seeks tax concessions, Govt. collateral on loans for expansion projects
Discussions with Finance Ministry underway to determine operating style of CPC
CPC turns around business to earn month-on-month profit from May

The debt-ridden Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is seeking tax concessions and Government assistance to finance several expansion projects that could cost as much as $ 2.4 billion, a top official said yesterday.
The State-owned entity, which owes over Rs. 300 billion to banks due to subsidised sales prices, is seeking Treasury assistance to finance some of its key expansion projects including the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery expansion to cost $ 2.3 billion. The CPC has lobbied with the Finance Ministry for tax concessions or to assist in securing concessionary loans to finance the project, said CPC Chairman Dammika Ranatunga.
“We can recover the money invested in about six years’ time. We pay the Government about 40% in taxes so if we get a concession on the taxes we pay on the refinery at least we will be able to pay the loans. If we structure the loans properly, we will be able to pay those loans and also will be able to save a lot of money instead of paying it in six years. If we get a concessionary loan we will be saving enough money to utilise on other products,” Ranatunga told Daily FT.
The expansion will improve the capacity of the refinery, which can only meet 30% of the country’s demand at present, to 100% by 2025 and is expected to save $ 400 million annually for the CPC once completed. The CPC is considering two options to fuel the much discussed Sapugaskanda expansion project. One is to commission a suitable bidder to build and supply the crude oil needed, he said. The second is to finance the project through a concessionary loan to be repaid within a period of 10-12 years.
“If we can do a long-term crude supply then it does not put a burden on the Government. If we do the long-term crude supply then we have to decide on a price based on international prices lower than whatever we buy at the time. If they can get it directly from a well, then that cost is also much less, they have an opportunity to work that angle as well.”
The CPC has already secured three parties interested in the project, Ranatunga said.
The company is also considering a number of other development projects to improve operations and make long-term savings. Moves are underway to install more pipelines between the Colombo Port and Kolonnawa to reduce transport time leading to savings of $ 5 million per year.
Further, a new pipeline will link the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela terminals. The CPC also plans to install a new 90,000-metric ton tank for storing aviation fuel which will then be directly pumped to the BIA terminal via a proposed 4-km-long pipeline connecting Muthurajawela terminal and the airport. According to estimates, the project will save $ 2.54 per metric ton of aviation fuel, enabling BIA to provide fuel at better rates leading to profitability of Rs. 3 billion per year for the CPC.
Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. (CPSTL) has also begun the process of evaluating and restructuring 11 Provincial Fuel Depots where revisions will be done in locations depending on emerging economic zones.
While the CPSTL is able to self-finance their projects, projects proposed by CPC to improve capacity need to be financed through loans or Government funding, Ranatunga said. However, the CPC does not plan to obtain commercial loans at this point in time. Discussions with the Finance Ministry have been focused on the matter as well he said.
Discussions also focused on the operating model of the CPC and to lobby for possible tax benefits, he said. According to him, the CPC is capable of financing its own expansion projects if it is run as a profit-making business.
“We have a discussion again on Friday [today] on the matter. The discussion will centre on how the Government should recognise us, whether we are going to be a commercial institute driven by profits or whether we are going to be a national institute which is assisting the Government to help the masses and give their requirement at a concessionary price. Then when we do that obviously we need the Government to step in when we have to borrow.
At present Rs. 300 billion is due from the Government for supplying fuel to consumers at a subsidised price. Further, Government institutions also owe CPC over Rs. 60 billion in total. CEB has run a bill of Rs. 40 billion with the CPC, while SriLankan Airlines’ unpaid fuel bill is at Rs. 11 billion, Ranatunga revealed. These add to CPC’s own debt of Rs. 300 billion. However, a number of strategic changes in the CPC’s operations have earned the company month-on-month profits since May 2017 amounting to a total of Rs. 11.643 billon in four months.
“Over the past four months, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and CPC have enacted a series of changes that have enabled it to make financial gains and the corporation is now preparing for the future,” said Ranatunga.
Despite the debts the CPC has not lobbied for a price hike with the Government. According to Ranatunga, relevant officials have been apprised of the situation faced by the CPC. However, no request to increase prices has been made.
“We have not requested the price increase; we have taken into consideration the impact on the people and apprised the Government of the situation. The Government is yet to inform us on their decision. They will do so after discussions with all other relevant institutions. We have to take into consideration that we supply different products to institutions like the CEB as well,” he said.

CPC seeks tax concessions, Govt. collateral on loans for expansion projects
Discussions with Finance Ministry underway to determine operating style of CPC
CPC turns around business to earn month-on-month profit from May

The debt-ridden Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is seeking tax concessions and Government assistance to finance several expansion projects that could cost as much as $ 2.4 billion, a top official said yesterday.
The State-owned entity, which owes over Rs. 300 billion to banks due to subsidised sales prices, is seeking Treasury assistance to finance some of its key expansion projects including the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery expansion to cost $ 2.3 billion. The CPC has lobbied with the Finance Ministry for tax concessions or to assist in securing concessionary loans to finance the project, said CPC Chairman Dammika Ranatunga.
“We can recover the money invested in about six years’ time. We pay the Government about 40% in taxes so if we get a concession on the taxes we pay on the refinery at least we will be able to pay the loans. If we structure the loans properly, we will be able to pay those loans and also will be able to save a lot of money instead of paying it in six years. If we get a concessionary loan we will be saving enough money to utilise on other products,” Ranatunga told Daily FT.
The expansion will improve the capacity of the refinery, which can only meet 30% of the country’s demand at present, to 100% by 2025 and is expected to save $ 400 million annually for the CPC once completed. The CPC is considering two options to fuel the much discussed Sapugaskanda expansion project. One is to commission a suitable bidder to build and supply the crude oil needed, he said. The second is to finance the project through a concessionary loan to be repaid within a period of 10-12 years.
“If we can do a long-term crude supply then it does not put a burden on the Government. If we do the long-term crude supply then we have to decide on a price based on international prices lower than whatever we buy at the time. If they can get it directly from a well, then that cost is also much less, they have an opportunity to work that angle as well.”
The CPC has already secured three parties interested in the project, Ranatunga said.
The company is also considering a number of other development projects to improve operations and make long-term savings. Moves are underway to install more pipelines between the Colombo Port and Kolonnawa to reduce transport time leading to savings of $ 5 million per year.
Further, a new pipeline will link the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela terminals. The CPC also plans to install a new 90,000-metric ton tank for storing aviation fuel which will then be directly pumped to the BIA terminal via a proposed 4-km-long pipeline connecting Muthurajawela terminal and the airport. According to estimates, the project will save $ 2.54 per metric ton of aviation fuel, enabling BIA to provide fuel at better rates leading to profitability of Rs. 3 billion per year for the CPC.
Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. (CPSTL) has also begun the process of evaluating and restructuring 11 Provincial Fuel Depots where revisions will be done in locations depending on emerging economic zones.
While the CPSTL is able to self-finance their projects, projects proposed by CPC to improve capacity need to be financed through loans or Government funding, Ranatunga said. However, the CPC does not plan to obtain commercial loans at this point in time. Discussions with the Finance Ministry have been focused on the matter as well he said.
Discussions also focused on the operating model of the CPC and to lobby for possible tax benefits, he said. According to him, the CPC is capable of financing its own expansion projects if it is run as a profit-making business.
“We have a discussion again on Friday [today] on the matter. The discussion will centre on how the Government should recognise us, whether we are going to be a commercial institute driven by profits or whether we are going to be a national institute which is assisting the Government to help the masses and give their requirement at a concessionary price. Then when we do that obviously we need the Government to step in when we have to borrow.
At present Rs. 300 billion is due from the Government for supplying fuel to consumers at a subsidised price. Further, Government institutions also owe CPC over Rs. 60 billion in total. CEB has run a bill of Rs. 40 billion with the CPC, while SriLankan Airlines’ unpaid fuel bill is at Rs. 11 billion, Ranatunga revealed. These add to CPC’s own debt of Rs. 300 billion. However, a number of strategic changes in the CPC’s operations have earned the company month-on-month profits since May 2017 amounting to a total of Rs. 11.643 billon in four months.
“Over the past four months, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and CPC have enacted a series of changes that have enabled it to make financial gains and the corporation is now preparing for the future,” said Ranatunga.
Despite the debts the CPC has not lobbied for a price hike with the Government. According to Ranatunga, relevant officials have been apprised of the situation faced by the CPC. However, no request to increase prices has been made.
“We have not requested the price increase; we have taken into consideration the impact on the people and apprised the Government of the situation. The Government is yet to inform us on their decision. They will do so after discussions with all other relevant institutions. We have to take into consideration that we supply different products to institutions like the CEB as well,” he said.

Oct 29, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government is moving fast to expand the 1990 Suvasariya ambulance service islandwide with the financial assistance of India, Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva says.
He said the government is finalizing arrangements to set up an institution named Suwasariya Foundation by an Act of Parliament in order to expand the 1990 ambulance service island wide.
"We are now in the final phase of the Act of Parliament to incorporate the 1990 Foundation which will be fully owned by the Government of Sri Lanka and run as an independent entity," the Deputy Minister said in a Facebook post.
The 1990 free ambulance service currently implemented in the Western and Southern provinces has been a success and the government plans to implement the service in other seven provinces as well.
The emergency ambulance service was set up with the USD 7 million assistance from the Government of India in July 2016. The first phase of the project included setting up of an emergency response center, deployment of 88 ambulances in the Southern and Western Provinces and recruitment and training of nearly 600 Sri Lankan personnel to implement the project.
The Cabinet of Ministers earlier this month gave the nod to the government to set up the Suwasariya Foundation by an Act of Parliament in order to expand the 1990 ambulance service island wide.
Deputy Minister Dr. de Silva said India has granted another USD 15 million to expand the free ambulance service island wide and the 1,300 new staff members will be recruited across the island in the next phase.
According to Dr. De Silva, the current response time from time of call is less than 13 minutes and 99.6% of calls are answered in the first ring. Since implementation, over 40,000 emergency patients have been transferred to hospitals.
Deputy Minister said the 1990 Suwaseriya Command and Control Center at Rajagiriya with over 500 staff including Emergency Medical Technicians, Pilots and Emergency Response Officers is perhaps one of the most efficient operations in Sri Lanka.

The Chinese government has pledged Yuan 2 billion in aid to Sri Lanka for the period 2018-2020, said Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yi Xianliang.
The Chinese government’s commitment to develop capacity building, finance, technology and innovation spheres in Sri Lanka to give a further fillip to bilateral cooperation between China and Sri Lanka would continue, he said.
Speaking at second edition of Huawei’s global Corporate Social Responsibility program, ‘Seeds for the Future’, that aims to nurture local ICT talent, last Friday, he highlighted the importance of developing the ICT and telecommunication sectors’ infrastructure in Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador stressed the need for more investment in the information and telecommunications industry, considering it as a priority area in order to enable digitization and fulfill the set economic goals.
According to the Ambassador, the Chinese government has disbursed Yuan 1.5 billion in aid to Sri Lanka to supplement various development projects and charities during the period 2014-2017.
Every year, Huawei Shenzhen, China, invites students across the global to study at the company headquarters and this year too Huawei presents full scholarships to 10 selected Sri Lankan university students for a two-week study trip from November 4 to 18.
The scholarship winners will also have opportunities to study cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, LTE, and cloud computing, and have hands-on practice at the Huawei headquarters.
This year too, Huawei, joined hands with the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure for the launch of this project and Minister Harin Fernando said that ‘Seeds for the Future’ program would support Sri Lanka to be a digitally empowered nation.
“Last year’s study trip enahnced student’s abilities to adopt to the ICT industry as they learned more about state-of-the-art technologies and skills as well as the innovation needs of the Sri Lankan market,” the Minister said.
Initiated by Huawei in 2008, the ‘Seeds For the Future’ program seeks to develop local ICT talent, enhance knowledge transfer and promote a greater understanding of an interest in the telecommunications sector.
Shunli Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Sri Lanka, also emphasized the need to nurture local ICT talent and expressed hope that the Seeds For the Future program will immensely assist local communities, universities and students and the Sri Lanka ICT industry to a great extent.
He further highlighted that Sri Lanka needs more bandwidth to realize the government’s ambitious target of building a digital Sri Lanka.
According to Wang, despite fiber networks and fast mobile networks, Sri Lanka needs more bandwidth and the biggest challenge the country currently faces is the infrastructure.
