Spider Computer

In addition to completely deactivated Spider Computer demonstrated a similar, but somewhat larger and not a "spider" device. It has already, at least, capable of creating a projection of the keyboard on the table. Obviously, Ericsson is working in this direction and plans to implement such technologies. Perhaps a simplified version of Spider Computer will appear before 2020. Even if it is not a miniature, still, its dimensions - much less than today's laptops.

Wireless Speakers – Aluratek Bump


Wireless speakers seem to be all the rage with the in crowd this year. Just like gaudy headphones and understated earbuds before them, wireless speakers have become a new status symbol among the technologically (and musically) inclined. However, many of the models available are extremely pricey and require a significant investment. Either that or they don’t work for a hill of beans. The new wireless Bump speakers from Aluratek are, thankfully, neither pricey nor cheaply made.

There are three models available but the coolest (and most practical) is the AUWS01F. This little machine receives a signal from a 2.4GHz wireless dongle (that just so happens to be plugged into your handy computer) and converts it into high-fidelity sound. And for just $79.99 it won’t break anybody’s bank.

There’s a wired version too (the AMS01F) that features media player capabilities and relies on an audio line-in or a pre-loaded SD card for its library of tunes. This model also sports a FM tuner but it’s not like anybody actually listens to the radio anymore.

While these Bump speakers from Aluratek don’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the wireless speakers we’ve seen, they also don’t come laden with such a heavy price tag. You must answer for yourself the age-old question: style or functionality.

The Nokia Kinetic

The Nokia Kinetic isn't just a sleek concept phone. It's a sleek concept phone that raises itself up into a standing position when a call comes in. Huh? Inside the Kinetic is an electromagnet that can shift weights in the curved base, causing the phone to tilt upright on cue, that cue being an incoming call. Telemarketer again? Tap the phone to decline the call and it'll fall back down. It's intended to be a playful feature, though I can see it being useful in a quiet office where even vibrating phones are sometimes an irritant to others. More images after the break...
The Kinetic's pretty clever, though designer Jeremy Innes-Hopkins will have to do some serious convincing if anyone's going to go for the bulbous form factor of this thing.

Buy rechargeable batteries are always better than just buying batteries. First, it is profitable, second - less waste. Nevertheless, it is still not the best way to save resources - in fact still need to insert the plug into the outlet and use electricity. Window Phone - concept phone On one hand, clear conceptual phones already, so this is not just the first, but on the other, the so-called Window Phone has one impressive feature - its transparent housing varies depending on the weather! Thus, in the sunny days, the screen will be completely transparent, on a rainy day it will appear «virtual» drop, but it is covered with frost frost. Ie translucent screen will look like as well as present a window into a variety of weather. I do not know how it will be practical, but at least, very original!

New Arc Touch Mouse

Sure Apple seems to have the market cornered when it comes to stylish peripherals but Microsoft wants you to know that they’re not out of the game yet. They’ve recently released a new mouse that is every bit as sleek as Apple’s input device and it comes in black!

The new Arc touch mouse from Microsoft is ultra-light, features stylish, if not ergonomic, curves, and the freedom that can only come from wireless input devices.

One of the unique features about the device is the capacitive touch strip situated between the mechanical buttons. Just the feather-light touch of your electrically charged skin can control this puppy—which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view.

And, unfortunately, that’s about it. There’s nothing revolutionary in the functionality—it is, after all, just a mouse. Microsoft is betting that the design alone is enough to sell the thing and the $60 price tag they’ve stuck on it might just get the job done.

I wouldn’t advocate throwing your current mouse in the bin and buying this one but if you’re in the market for a new one anyway then this little thing might just make a suitable replacement.

Misa Digital Brings Back a Hair Band Staple—The Keytar!

Have you ever dreamt about making keytars cool again? Of course you have. Keytars are awesome and there wasn’t an eighties bands (rock, rap, or new wave) worth its salt unless it had a keytar. Thanks to Misa Digital this unholy hybrid of guitar and keyboard is getting new life and an extremely modern makeover in the Kitara.

The device itself looks like Steve jobs got his hands on a guitar and decided to give it that little Apple touch. Replace the strings with a futuristic touch screen that displays the digital “strings” as glowing beams of light and you’ve got an epic instrument no matter what it sounds like. The screen also supports multitouch so the combinations of musical creativity are near endless.

Did I mention that the screen doubles as a control center for the software inside the Kitara? That software runs on Linux so I wouldn’t be surprised if a few inventive hackers had a thing or two to say about the Kitara soon after they get their hands on one.

The fretboard has undergone reconstructive surgery as well. There is a host of buttons on the board that, much like the function buttons on a keyboard, can completely tweak the sounds the instrument is able to make.

Like any good digital device these days there are a ton of out ports on the thing as well. You can hook it up to a standard amplifier or, via USB, the modern equivalent: a computer. There’s also headphone and audio out ports and even a MIDI out!

This device, no matter how digital, is for the serious musician and with a price tag over $800 it isn’t cheap. However, the cost is paltry when you truly realize the scope of the output this thing can create and the freedom it gives the musician.
