US Secretary of State extends wishes for Sinhala and Tamil new year

On behalf of President Obama and the American people, US Secretary of State Jon Kerry offered warmest greetings to the people of Sri Lanka and the vibrant global Sri Lankan diaspora.

John Kerry in his message stated that this New Year brings a new opportunity for all Sri Lankans to join together in the spirit of tolerance, reconciliation, and peace.

The US Secretary of State also said that as Sri Lanka continues its work to build a prosperous, democratic Sri Lanka, the US offers its best wishes for a safe and happy holiday and a prosperous, peaceful year ahead.
