Paro Taktsang (spa phro stag tshang) / (spa gro stag tshang), also called The Tiger's Nest and locally known as the Taktsang Dzong is one of the most famous holy and religious monasteries in the upper Paro valley, Bhutan, built in 1692. It was built around the Taktsang Senge Samdup (stag tshang seng ge bsam grub) cave where Guru Padmasambhava said to have meditated in the 8th century for 3 months. He is credited with introducing Buddhism in Bhutan and he is considered the tutelary deity of the country. Today, it is the most well known of the thirteen taktsang or "tiger lair" caves he meditated.

The Guru mTshan-brgyad Lhakhang, the temple devoted to Padmasambhava (also known as Gu-ru mTshan-brgyad Lhakhang ‘The Temple of the Guru with Eight Names’) was built around the cave as an elegant structure in 1692 by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye and has since become the cultural icon of Bhutan.

A popular festival, known as the Tsechu, held in honour of Padmasambhava, who established the monastery is celebrated in the Paro valley sometime during March or April.
