As these channels use (single side band) you need a BFO (Beat frequency oscillator) or a radio with SSB. However, in a short wave radio still you can listen without having SSB BFO facility but hard to understand clearly as it uses different modulationCPDLC – will be used as an alternative to HF (High Frequency) But some aircrafts doesn’t have this facility onboard. They rely on HF.
