Legally you CANNOT buy investment grade (24kt) gold bars and coins in Sri Lanka. Its illegal to trade. Jewellery shops (especially Vogue) will not sell you. You can buy on the black market but that's a risk.

You can buy 22kt jewellery and 22kt coins. Those are allowed but they are not investment grade gold.
