Gadgets Galore is an American short film from 1955. It is about the beginning of the car age. The film contains various sequences from old films from the beginning of the car age. These were cut together to showcase curiosities and accidents in particular. The narrators comment on this in a flippant or moody way, sometimes imitating a French accent, sometimes imitating a German accent. The main focus is on the automotive history of the United States. For example, you can see Barney Oldfield recreating his 1903 record with a cigar in his mouth, or footage from the Vanderbilt Cup Race 1906 and an early Indianapolis 500 race. The film received an Academy Award nomination in 1956 for Best Short Film.
