Bulgarian internet service provider M-Tel will offer customers 1 Gbps for 14.90 Bulgarian lev per month (US$10.30, SL Rs. 1130).

M-Tel also offers 30, 40, 50, 100 Mbps services.

The new service will be the cheapest 1 Gbps service in the world.

    M-Tel to offer fixed internet at 1 Gbps speeds in 4 cities

    Bulgarian operator M-Tel will launch fibre internet offers supporting 1 Gbps speeds in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Bourgas. The offers will be made available in cooperation with the recently acquired ISPs Megalan Network and Spectrum Net on 21 November. Any customer who currently uses broadband internet at speeds of 100 Mbps will automatically receive the opportunity to surf at speeds of up to 1Gbps without paying extra. Other clients may be able to surf the web at 1 Gbps by subscribing for a 100 Mbps broadband package which costs BGN 14.9 per month with a two-year contract and BGN 18.9 per month with a one-year contract. Those who subscribe do not pay an installation fee are are given a Wi-Fi router at no extra cost. The offer is valid until 31 January 2012. Thereafter, the data transfer rate goes back to 100 Mbps.
