Pawana was not banned and this was the only musical show that JVP allowed during 88-89 insurrection . It was shown all over the country during height of JVP without any sort of prohibition. In fact some govt workers unions organized this in and around Colombo. JVP banned all other music shows and they were not held due to fear.
Also there was no banning or restriction of two cassette set of Pawana being sold (which was sold at Rs 100 at some of the Pawana music venus as concessionary price for audience) At that time CDs were not commercially produced.

Some songs of Nanda Malini were nor aired by SLBC for reasons known to them . Such songs were included in cassettes Yathra (had 4 slbc banned songs ), Sathye Geehtaya (vol 1 and 2) Pavana 1and 2 (almost all songs) . Some of these songs were shown on SLRC(but not all), so the ban applied only to SLBC.
With private channels entering public broadcasting this banning became in effective as they aired them .

Pavana musical show went uninterrupted till it lost its relevance. There was no ban on this musical show though songs were banned from SLBC.
