Two persons were shot dead in separate incidents at Akuressa and Bentota shortly after dusk yesterday, police said today.
They said that in the first incident gunmen on a motorcycle sprayed gun fire from an automatic hand gun on two persons having dinner at an open eating house. One person died on the spot while the other was injured and rushed to the Bentota Rural Hospital, police said.
They said the gunmen later fled the scene on the motorcycle and a hunt for the suspects is currently under way.
In the other incident at Akuressa in the Deep South one person was shot dead following an altercation with another man.
