    Yes both of them ruled the country before 2015 too. That is how 18th amendment was passed. UNP MPs who joined to MR at that time blindly supported that amendment that was the start of downfall. This was challenged in SC but chief justice at that time Shirani Bandaranayake and other judges also said it was constitutional. Two of the judges now dead but others know what a disaster 18th amendment was.
    19th amandment had the support of opposition MR and others also supported it . This was challenged at Bill stage in Supreme Court and some segments were removed as it needed referendum. If they sought a referrendum at that time they would have got it! But see what happened in 41/2 years due to bad (worse) ruling by MS-RW
    Moral of the story- do not blindly approve anything
