The number of deaths due to novel influenza AH1N1 infection has gone up to 22 say reports. The Epidemiological Unit of the Ministry of Health states 342 people have been infected with the disease from 20th September until now. 9 of these patients died within last week points out the Epidemiological Unit.
Most of the patients, which is 105, have been recorded from Colombo District. There are reports of 23 patients from Gampaha District, 16 from Kandy district, 11 from Galle District and 10 from Nuwaraeliya District.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Palithe Mahipala said about a million injections to combat Novel Influenza AH1N1 have been administered already and 600,000 more are available in stores.
