7 LTTE carders escaped after destroying 23 aircrafts
(Lanka-e-News, 2007 Oct 29, 11.15 AM) Sri Lanka Freedom Party - People's Wing (SLFP-PW) Convener MP Sripathi Suriyaarachchi says that the President is trying to manipulate police and three armed forces in his political agenda.
Addressing a media briefing yesterday (28) Suriyaarachchi said that Mahinda Rajapakse who came to power identifying himself as modern
Dutugemunu limited the war to Eastern Province without attacking Kilinochchi paving way to LTTE to train 6000 more cadres.
He said that he had information that 23 aircrafts were destroyed in the LTTE attack at Anuradhapura airbase, the most dangerous attack
in the history. Suriyaarachchi further said that 27 LTTE cadres took part in the attack and seven of them escaped unharmed.
Suriyaarachchi said that the siege that commenced around 3 AM prevailed around 45 minutes and the LTTE air attack came then. He said that that attack could not be repulsed.
He said that the country lost most essential, expensive aircrafts and that could disrupt the future operations.
MP Suriyaarachchi recalled how they revealed
that Rs. 800 million fraud was behind the Mig-27 deal.
