Described in a blog posted 70-270 yesterday, Microsoft's goal behind the new feature is to make it easier for users to find iPhone apps directly through the mobile search engine. Though you can of course search Apple's App Store, scouring through the variety of apps that appear to find the right one can sometimes be a challenge.
Further, by using Bing to track down iPhone apps, Microsoft hopes that people running their usual searches will stumble upon apps that they never knew existed but will find useful. The new feature works in a couple of different ways.
Using a new auto app discovery mode, Bing can find apps in the course of regular search queries. For example, searching for a general topic, such as "hotels" or "movies" will uncover iPhone apps devoted to those subjects.
In a search for hotels, Bing might point you to Travelocity's mobile app, while a search for movies would uncover the iPhone apps for Hulu, IMDb, and Moviefone, among others. The new feature also goes much further than just displaying the name of an app.
You can also run searches to track down specific iPhone apps. For example, searching for the name of an app, such as Angry Birds or Kindle will find those dedicated apps. Also, you can enter more general searches, such as "top iPhone apps" or "ebook apps" to find a list of apps that match those categories.
Links to the apps show up under a dedicated category called App Results amid your regular search results. If you don't yet have the app and want it, Bing will take you to the App Store on your iPhone where you can download the app directly.
If the app is already installed on your iPhone, then tapping on it will let you launch the app right from your search results. But for that option work, the app's developer must have enabled the launch functionality, according to Microsoft, a capability that so far is only in around 50 different apps.
The new mobile app search works only 70-270 on Bing's iPhone version. The dedicated Bing for iPad app doesn't support the feature, though you can use the iPhone version on an iPad as well as an iPod Touch. The feature also works on Bing's mobile site.

70-294 exam

Android will continue its climb toward 70-294 mobile operating system dominance, capturing about 40 percent of the market in the second half of 2011, according to Thursday estimates from IDC.
IDC pointed to the "significant and growing list of vendors who have made Android the cornerstone of their respective smartphones strategies," as the key to its success. Android will likely have 38.9 percent market share in 2011, growing to 43.8 percent by 2015.
Windows Phone 7, meanwhile, will benefit from Microsoft's partnership with Nokia, and capture the number-two spot, as well as 20 percent market share, by 2015, IDC said. This echoes numbers the firm published in March, prompting doubts from those who questioned the release of such specific numbers four years in advance.
Given that Nokia is not expected to release any Windows Phone 7-based devices until 2012 and the Mango update isn't coming until later this year, however, it's unlikely that the Microsoft platform will see any major gains this year, IDC said.
That growth will come at the expense of Symbian, which IDC said will slip from 20.6 percent market share this year to 0.1 percent by 2015 given that Nokia is moving its support from Symbian to Windows Phone. However, since Nokia has committed to support Symbian until 2016, the platform will remain "on par with its competitors" for the time being, IDC said.
Other OSes should take note, though. The slip in Symbian's dominance presents a "huge opportunity for competing operating systems to gain footing," IDC said. Windows Phone 7 will likely have 3.8 percent market share this year, climbing to 20.3 percent by 2015.
That could include Apple's iOS and Research in Motion's BlackBerry platforms, though IDC predicted modest growth in the months ahead. Both platforms will also likely experience a small market share decline in the coming years, though overall shipment volume will grow.
Apple's iOS should have 18.2 percent of the market this year, dropping to 16.9 percent (and staying at number three) by 2015. BlackBerry will drop from 14.2 percent to 13.4 percent in 70-294 the next four years, and maintain its number-four position.

70-573 exam

Captivate’s embedded solutions 70-573 are viewed by visitors of in excess of 1,000 buildings in the United States and in Canada, all powered by the successor of Windows CE, the Redmond company revealed.
When we deliver our product to a customer, they know that they won’t have to keep calling us back in to restart or repair it. Visitors to any of the landmarks mentioned above are most likely to see the embedded solutions inside elevators, delivering news and information.
“Windows Embedded Compact provides the flexibility to build the product exactly the way we want, and the reliability to ensure that it will keep running.”These are live, so they present notifications and other information immediately.
Captivate started operating in 1997, at which time LCD screens were only starting to become affordable, and the digital signage term was yet to be coined. “The key to making our product great is providing something interesting for viewers to watch,” Newville added.
14 years later, Captivate’s digital signage is used in such buildings as Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center in New York; Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago; Gas Company Tower in Los Angeles; the Prudential Center in Boston; and Embarcadero Center in San Francisco.
According to the Redmond company, Captivate connects all its HD LCD screens in a network via WIFi, making sure that they run independent of the environment they’re placed into. The new interface has the tile-based Start screen of Windows Phone, although with more titles.
“We spend a lot of time understanding what people’s needs are during different times of the day, and delivering programming to match. Our audience has very different informational needs first thing in the morning, at lunchtime and when they’re going home in the evening.”
I personally think it's hard to be incredibly innovative when you've reached the size of Microsoft, yet I find the work it has done to establish Azure and the tremendous server-side solutions like 70-573 SharePoint and Exchange 2010, among others, is worth a nod of respect.

70-401 exam

Note that the minimum system requirements 70-401 of Windows 7 are 1GHz or faster, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, 1GB of RAM for the 32-bit OS and 2GB of RAM for the 64-bit OS, 16GB of available hard disk space for the 32-bit OS and 20GB of free space for the 64-bit OS, and a DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or later driver.
We know that the interface is two-fold. One provides a Windows Phone 7 feel and one that follows the traditional Start button-oriented desktop UI. For Intel-based systems, applications that run on Windows 7 will run on Windows 8, but ARM-based devices will not be able to run "legacy" Windows applications.
Everyone already knows the traditional desktop, so the focus is on the tablet-oriented, touch-only side (although there are desktop PCs whose screens are touch-capable too, and Windows 8's touch UI will work on those).
The interface can provide a touch keyboard -- as well as a split keyboard, which makes more sense for those holding it by aligning keys to the right and left side. (Ironically, Apple this week said its forthcoming iOS 5 will have a similar split onscreen keyboard for iPads. It appears Apple is copying Microsoft here.)
But developers who work with Windows 8 will be assured of immediate cross-device support for their programs; everything from a tablet to the desktop will be able to work with the application, thanks to the unified OS across devices.
With this strategy, Microsoft will be in the tablet game next year. Some have said it is too late, including my InfoWorld colleague Robert X. Cringely, who criticized Microsoft for not being at the front of the innovation pack. My response: Kinect -- but those are apples and oranges in this fight.
No, Microsoft didn't develop Facebook, Amazon.com, Twitter, or Google. But should it be disrespected in trash 70-401 talk because it didn't? No, Microsoft has created both the most stable platform for corporate progress and one of the best video gaming platforms on the planet at the same time. Should we spit on Microsoft for not coming up with the first iPad? Come on, people.

70-450 exam

Hardcore gamers take notice, Microsoft 70-450 wants you to know Kinect does have something to offer you. There will be a "Kinect Sports: Season 2" game with new party sports games. And the crowd got its first look at the Kinect-controlled "Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster."
Microsoft set out to prove to serious gamers that their Kinect device can bring full-body motion controls to more than just family-friendly party games, dance games and fitness games during a press conference Monday morning in advance of this week's Electronic Entertaiment Expo.
BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka took to the stage during Microsoft's press conference to show how Kinect's ability to detect voice commands is being intigrated into the forthcoming and highly anticipated "Mass Effect 3" game.
For starters, players will be able to speak dialog lines that will be used by Commander Shepard in the game. In a demonstration, a player spoke selections from a dialog tree onscreen and the famed commander then uttered them onscreen.
"But this isn’t just about choosing dialog," Muzyka said. "In combat, Kinect grants you a crazy new level of coordination and control." During the press conference, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot took to the stage to announce that "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" would also support Kinect.
He then showed off how Kinect will be used to give commands and direct squad mates in the game. And Guillemot added this kicker, "All future titles in the Tom Clancy franchise will leverage Kinect."
During a demonstration, Ubisoft reps showed how players would be able to use voice commands and physical motions to customize weapons and how, by holding arms out as if holding a gun and making motions, players would be able to fire weapons.
Meanwhile, Star Wars fans got their 70-450 biggest look at the highly anticipated "Kinect Star Wars" game with a player taking the stage to show how gamers will be able to lunge, jump and dodge as well as swing an imaginary lightsaber as an on-screen jedi follows their movements.
But at the press conference Monday, Microsoft made sure to show off the kind of family-friend Kinect titles that have aleady made the device a best-seller. And that wasn't all. Microsoft also revealed "Ryse," a heavy-hitting action game set in ancient Rome and featuring full-body motion controls.

70-513 exam

Arguably Microsoft Xbox's biggest announcement 70-513 at E3 was the fall launch of Live TV, a new experience that adds live television streaming, built-in DVR functionality, voice-powered Bing searches, and a content deal with YouTube.
"Quite simply we believe TV is more amazing with you as the controller," said Marc Whitten, vice president for Xbox Live, in his introduction. In console hardware sales, Microsoft said it believes the Xbox 360 has “changed the tail” of the typical hardware lifecycle with big gains in sales in the fifth and sixth years of its life.
Motion-sensor feature Kinect will power Live TV with gesture- and voice-controlled commands, allowing users to discover and control content stored in their consoles without the need for a physical remote control.
Whitten also announced Bing on Xbox, which conducts voice searches across Microsoft's Bing search engine and Xbox content, like Hulu Plus, Netflix, video, and Xbox Live marketplaces.
For instance, if you want to watch X-Men, you can simply say, "Xbox Bing X-Men" and Bing will pull up all X-Men related games and movies stored in your console. You can then say "Xbox Play X-Men" to start playing the movie.
Whitten announced a new partnership with YouTube that brings top original Web content to the console. Microsoft also plans to multiply the number of its Xbox partnerships by a factor of ten this year.
Finally, as rumored on Sunday, Live TV will bring local channels live-streamed through Xbox to your TV set. Initial partnerships include Sky TV in the U.K. and Australia. There was no mention of a U.S. partner yet, but Live TV launches this fall, Whitten said.
"This is our vision for the future of TV—effortless, approachable, because TV is more amazing when you are the controller," he said. The nearly 35 million Xbox Live members cited by the company today represent an increase of 40 percent from the approximately 25 million members reported by the company a year ago.
Microsoft on Friday released some Xbox 360 70-513 stats, which suggested that buyers are still snapping up the popular gaming console. Since November 2005, Microsoft has sold 55 million Xbox 360s, and "sales are accelerating," the company said.

70-515 exam

Microsoft and Boeing have pledged a total of $50 million toward a new program that will provide scholarships to 70-515 Washington undergraduate students majoring in high-demand fields. The accounts are separate 501(c)(3) charities, so cannot be touched by the state for any other purpose. And contributors will be eligible for federal tax deductions.
The program, authorized by legislation signed by Gov. Chris Gregoire on Monday and partly funded with money from the state, could provide as many as 10,000 scholarships of $1,000 apiece when it begins giving out money in December.
The public-private scholarship partnership, dubbed the Opportunity Scholarship Program, aims to soften the blow of double-digit tuition increases at public higher-education institutions this fall. The Legislature cut about $500 million of funding to colleges and universities over two years, essentially shifting a greater portion of the cost of going to a public school to students.
Also Monday, Gregoire signed into law a bill that gives the state's universities and its one college, The Evergreen State College, authority to set a higher tuition rate than that approved by the Legislature.
The new scholarship program is designed to help both low- and middle-income students — those whose family incomes are up to $97,500 for a family of four — who are going into high-demand fields such as health care, engineering and science. The program represents $25 million each from Boeing and Microsoft, to be donated over five years.
The state has contributed $5 million for 2011-13 and will begin matching private donations after state revenue collections reach a certain threshold, or in 2014, whichever is later. The goal is to raise $1 billion by the end of the decade for a scholarship endowment.
The legislation also creates the Opportunity Expansion Program, which will award money to higher-education institutions to help them produce more graduates in high-demand fields. Firms eligible for the state research- and development-tax credit can choose instead to donate that money to the Opportunity Expansion Program.
The scholarships will be offered to state 70-515 residents who attend a four-year or community college and are pursuing a bachelor's degree. The Opportunity Scholarship Board will decide whether the scholarships can also be used at state private schools.

70-528 exam

Next week is the big E3 video-game 70-528 convention, and Microsoft’s Xbox team this morning kicked off the competitive jockeying by releasing a new slate of statistics to demonstrate the momentum behind its Xbox 360 console and Xbox Live online service.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt made headlines earlier this week by dismissing Microsoft’s role as a provider of consumer technology platforms, saying that the Xbox business doesn’t count because it’s not a platform at the “computational level,” as he put it. But Microsoft sees the Xbox business as proof that it can stay relevant in the consumer world, particularly as the Xbox continues to expand into new areas of digital entertainment.
Microsoft didn’t break the figure down into Silver (free memberships) and Gold (paid subscriptions). The company also didn’t say if it has seen a boost in Xbox Live members as a result of the extended outage of the PlayStation Network following the high-profile online attack against the Sony property.
The company released the chart below to illustrate its point, showing how the Xbox 360 is rising at a time when consoles typically start to decline. A big part of the new momentum can be traced to the release of the Kinect motion controller for Xbox 360 last fall.
The Wireless Desktop 2000 is Microsoft’s first desktop combo that includes Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit technology. AES will help secure any information transmitted wirelessly between the mouse and keyboard.
The security includes a unique pre-programmed 128-bit encryption key which is designed to help prevent any keystokes, transmitted wirelessly, from being intercepted and deciphered. It’s a matter of pride for Microsoft, and not just about video games.
Microsoft has also included its popular BlueTrack technology on the Wireless Mouse 2000. So whether you’re looking to upgrade or redecorate, the Wireless Desktop 2000 will help protect your information and keep your desktop looking stylish.
The technology enables smooth tracking 70-528 on most surfaces apart from clear glass or mirrors. The Wireless Desktop 2000 is a great option for anyone looking for a new keyboard with great security and performance features.

70-564 exam

First, today it is releasing a high-profile free phone app: NBA Game Time, timed to coincide with the start of 70-564 the NBA Finals, while also showcasing the slick video playback capacity of WP7 handsets.
"We are committed to delivering applications that enhance the sports experience on Windows Phone," says Matthew Bencke, Microsoft general manager of Developer & Marketplace. Two developments this week illustrate the substantive strategy Microsoft is executing to make Windows Phone 7 a viable alternative to Google's Android or Apple's iPhone.
Second, at the Computex conference the boys from Redmond, Wash., are hyping Mango, code name for the next-gen WP7 hardware that supposedly will leap-frog anything put out by the fellas from Silicon Valley, Google and Apple.
Microsoft remains in distant third place in global smartphone market share, to be sure. But IDC analyst Al Hilwa says Microsoft is making smart strategic moves and is in the race for the long haul.
"The market is moving fast, and it appears like there is no time to catch up, but in reality, we are entering a decade-long transition in devices that will turn software models around like tumbleweed," says Hilwa. "What all this says to me is that while Microsoft may be late to modern smartphones, it is definitely too early to count them out."
The Nokia deal changes the game and puts Windows Phone on the map, we are all waiting for the first phones. To win, they have to address low-end and high-end phones early. For Mango, I like the larger language and geo portfolio and the new OEMs on board with the platform.
Mango doubles down on the signature user experience differentiation of WP7, taking the hub metaphor to a new level. I like the integration of developer apps into many aspects of the phone, such as Hubs and Bing Search in the browser.
The multitasking model in Mango 70-564 is really impressive. I think it is one of the best thought-through models on a smartphone today, with scenarios such as background downloads and powered application modes showing some real differentiation.
