Bob Muglia, who earlier this year left his high-level post as president of Microsoft's 70-663 lucrative Server and Tools Business, has been hired at Juniper Networks as executive vice president of software, the company announced today.
"We are excited to have a leader of Bob's caliber coming on board to lead Juniper's software initiatives, and I'm confident that his vision, management savvy and technical expertise will bring tremendous value to our organization," Juniper CEO Kevin Johnson said in a statement today.
Muglia was slated to stay on at Microsoft until this summer to ensure a smooth transition. In February, Ballmer appointed Satya Nadella as the company's new STB president.
Microsoft 70-663 announced Muglia's forthcoming departure in January at the beginning of what I called the "executive exodus," when dozens of influential Microsofties started leaving Redmond. In a company-wide email, CEO Steve Ballmer said "now is the time" for new leadership in the $17 billion division.
"I am incredibly excited by the emergence of cloud computing, and the opportunity it represents to shape business and the way people live for years to come," Muglia wrote in his own email to Microsoft employees. "I have deeply enjoyed my role in positioning Microsoft as a leader and innovator in cloud computing."
"As we continue to execute on our growth strategy centered on systems and software, we look forward to Bob playing a central role in extending our leadership position in network-powered software solutions
