    not a mathematician.........

    you can only cancel out (a+b-c) on both sides iff (if and only if) it's not equal to zero...here it's (a+b-c) is equal to zero so there is a mathematical error in this calculation...so this man can be "clever" but can't be a mathematician....cheers.

    (a + b) (a + b) = c (a + b)

    a*a + ab + ba + b*b = ca + cb

    a*a + ab - ca = cb - b*b - ba

    a( a + b -c) = -b(b + a - c)

    so a = - b

    a + b = 0

    since a=4000, b=2000 and c=6000

    (a+b-c)=0

    You cant remove 0 from an equation.
