[QUOTE="viraj_slk, post: 5204458, member: 51932"] I studied in Australia. I did my first year in Sri Lanka at ACBT and last two in Aus. I just finished my bachelors last December. You don't have to go to Australia to study IT. It's just a choice I made. You can learn pretty much the same things now in Sri Lankan universities in open courses. Well, first do some research about what field you want to follow. That's what I did first. I started by talking with people I know, who are already working in the IT field. Also googled and looked at courses offered by universities and tried to understand what kind of career paths they offer. It's not easy to decide which path you want to take within the IT field when you first start. But you naturally get to know what you want in a while as you continue. My advice is do some research and select a field you love. For example when I started my course three years ago, I thought I wanted to be a software developer or a programmer. Coz programming was somehing I loved for a long time and I have been doing some programs on my own. But after like one and half years, my interest changed to Networking and Security studies. This is because our course had several networking subjects in the first year. And when I did them, I found that I really liked them. It also had some business subjects in them. When I did them I found out that I really hated them :P . Like that you'll know what you will want eventually. the reason why I tell anyone to select a field they enjoy is that, it will be their love and passion for the field that will keep them going. It's easy to study when you like it isn't it? Like you I didn't enjoy A/Ls. But I really enjoyed studying IT. - So do some research, pick a good course. try to talk to people who have finished your course already to see if they found the course useful. - Then start your studies, you'll get many kinds of subjects.
