A primatologist observes the growing attraction between his young wife and his research assistant. The similarities between his research subject : behavior of monkeys , and the erotic relationships between humans become the focal point of his interests.
Dr. Gerard, the elderly primatologist, is a quintessential patriarchal male who believes that a woman should be limited to a domestic role. As part of his research, he attempts to vindicate his belief that monkeys are not promiscuous and love and faithfulness are predominate. He conjures an elaborate experiment involving his wife and his assistant to prove a link between human sexual behavior and monkey's.
