There is “Incredible India”, “Amazing Thailand”, and “The sunny side of life” in the Maldives. At the moment it seems that Sri Lanka “just Sri Lanka”. This is set to change.
Branding a tourist destination is extremely important in today’s world where one beach is hardly distinguishable from another. There are plenty of beautiful beaches.
Acknowledging this fact, the tourism authorities have launched an initiative that will give Sri Lankans—and the world—a visible tourist brand for the country in the near future. Hopes are high that the Sri Lankan ‘x-factor’—the quality that makes the country uniquely desireable—will be unveiled.
To this end, a tender for bids has been released requesting advertising agencies to come up with their best proposals to develop and launch the Sri Lanka brand.
“We will have the bids by the first week of September,” said George Michael, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism.
When brand Sri Lanka will actually be revealed seems a little uncertain, however. When contacted, Dileep Mudadeniya, Additional Director General and Head of Marketing at the Sri Lankan Tourist Board, was unable to provide a specific date but said they hoped to launch the brand by December.

It's nothing got to do with brand name, It's our poor publicity & strategic marketing & also partisanship for niche markets
