AFAIK 7600 doesn't support DX 10...??!! :D :D

I know.......What im saying is that with a 7600GS even a DX10 game u will enjoy the game play more than a 8500GT........

Decide Slide show with DX 10 graphics or somewhat smooth gameplay with DX9 graphics........

What sort of future upgrades are you talking about? You can install a Penyn at best, on a G33 board.

And remember, overclocking is an art. There is a limit to what the mobo can give you. You have a to play a big part in it. (i.e. testing, cooling, PATIENCE)

Card manufacturer doesn't really matter as you are not buying a sub 500USD card. A VGA card will get outdated in a blink of an eye, so no point paying the premium for the "name" when you could save that money for the next card, or something tangible. Inno3D has been there for a while, but not a popular brand here.

And to Chanster, it is the same reason why someone wouldn't why buy a 6600GT over a 7300GT these days. And also, it is just like why you would go a addon audio card to save CPU juice. (G86 takes the video decoding burden off the CPU...INCREDIBLY!)
what i meant putting a new video card etc etc by "upgrading". and nothing fancy :D well i am not in a situvation to have 'fun' overcolcking i guess because i am too busy :( so you can assume that i won't try overclocking :(

basicaly, i want this machine to let me play all the latest strategy games for at least 6 months. so thats why i asked for a higher graphics card... do you feel that the graphic card that you suggested will be enough for RTS games?

and how much would this setup cost me?

1. core 2 duo
2. casing and a good power sup that will be ok with some 'heavy graphics card(may be in the future if i decide to upgrade?)
3. 19 acer flat screen(is this a dumb choice? :P)
4. a good mboard(please suggest something, i won't attempt overclocking...)
5. 2gigs of RAM(does the brand matter? is there any speed/type that i should consider?)
6. keyboard mouse and a dvd writer

i got a S.B 5.1 card and a speaker system... so i am planning to use it with this...

thanks anusha for the grate help provided :) and all the others too.

please pardon this newbie for asking stupid questions :D i read a online vid card review at http://www.gamespot.com/features/6173135/index.html
they say this card gives the best value for money... how about this? is this a bad choice... is it possible to get this in lk?
GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

thanks :)

GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

thanks :)

It'll be highly unlikely to find a 8800GTS here in LK..(better ask Anusha)...even if it is available...the 640MB model will cost about 30k+ rupees...:baffled: :baffled:
So the best thing is to go for a 8600GT /GTS...
As Chanster said...you can save up some cash and upgrade your VGA in six months time...Other Spec's won't outdate as fast as the VGA's do...
I don't know...you better discuss with the guys who own 8800's / 8600's and decide...

EDIT: If you are willing to spend...Then a 19" LCD is not at all a dumb idea ;) :D
