well im quite late to this thread..havent read it all so pardon me if the spces i suggest here are already somewhere else in this thread...RTS games these days demand a lot of CPU and GPU power...an example of a RTS that need a damn lot of CPU power is the Supreme Commander...the more cores u have the more FPS u gain in this game cuz it has HUGEEEEEE game scences...C&C 3 also require some CPU and GPU power (but C&C 3 is single threaded so it doesnt matter u have more cores, highest clock counts for these kind of games)

i reccomend u a Core2 duo ( or a quad if u have money) with a decently high clock speed (2.66 GHz upwards, E6750 comes to my mind 25000 RS in unity) and a Radeon 3870 or if u have a lil bit more money a 8800 GT....and about 2GB of ram...this should do the trick....dont buy a lowend card like the geforce 86XX or lower and HD26xx or lower...cuz they cant offer the performance need for the latest RTS games like the World in Conflict..

    Two things.
    1. He has a 120k budget
    2. He is buying all this from SL.

2nd point pretty much limits his VGA to a great extent. He also wants an LCD, so go figure :P

    P.S.
You can suggest a much powerful system theoretically, but it is not practical.

    25k for the CPU
    25K for the mobo
    35K for the 8800GT
    15K for 500GB hard drive
    4K for DVD writer
    28K for a 19" wide screen LCD
7k for 800MHz DDR2 1GBx2 sticks (for dual channel performance)
and ur wayyyy out of 120k sorry mate :s and u still dont have keyboard, mouse and some other important stuff

25k for the mobo is too much.....A p35 mobo will be good enough........

EDIT=I would say around 17k for the mobo.....Getting a 25 k or more mobo will do if hez goin to use multi GPU or something......

hey if u drop the LCD u can buy the 8800GT here u cant buy the HD3870 tho (yet) buy a good CRT they have way better contrast ratios(infinite) than LCD monitors and for me CRT's always look better than a LCD..only downside is the massive bulk and the massive power consumption...but i can assure u that a CRT of 15K will definitely look better than a 28k 19" LCD (cuz its one of the cheapest)

Hi all! sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead. but i figured it would make more sense to continue the discussion on this thread...

    i have a budget of 200K now.
Building on what anusha proposed in this thread...

    E6750
    4GB RAM
    MBorad ?
    VGA ?
500GB HDD (around 15k at Barclays: your choice though)
    19" Samsung LCD

this is what i am hoping to buy in this weekend. but i am undecided on the vga and the mboard....
so your advice will be greatly appreciated! :D

    thanks!
