Depends on your personality and commitment, bro. And what you already know, and what you believe in.
  1. Mahamewna-if you don't mind a lot of singing and group meditation. It's not too bad for a beginner but some people don't really believe it's meditation. It helps to focus, though may not be so much vipassana.
  2. Goenka's centers-there's one in Kandy, as far as I know. Discipline is very high. You may enjoy it if you are really keen.
  3. Kanduboda-Good place, specially if you already know the subject a little. They have resident programs.
  4. Many temples around Colombo have once a week sessions, usually on Sundays. Some centers take a fee but most places won't. There was a program at Narada center; I don't know if it's still there.
  5. There are some forest monasteries like Na uyana. But it'll be difficult to secure a place and most of them don't have a set program. But if you have learnt meditation then the places are wonderful.
  6. Places like Sambodhi Viharaya, Vipassana center have resident programs. You can get details about more places from there. Some temples in Dehiwala also have programs on every Sunday.

thanks a lot for the information. This is very helpful. do you know a less popular place, with less crowd? I visited kaduboda once and it seems to be very peaceful place. but resident programs are little bit hard to follow for me. its nice if its something like one day program.

I'll look for a good day programs. There's a place in Dehiwala; I haven't gone there but a friend said it's a good place. Will find more details and let you know.

Start by lying or sitting in a quiet, dim room, and shut out as much external stimuli as possible. Breathe in and out deeply a few times and focus on relaxing.
